Barnes & Noble has announced a cross-platform streaming video solution for the Nook tablet
and other devices. The new service will premiere this fall in the US and during the holiday season in the UK with films and original TV shows from HBO, Sony Pictures, Starz, Viacom, Warner Brothers, and selected content from Walt Disney.
The Nook Video application will be available on multiple platforms including Android and iOS, and will allow users to pause a movie or TV show on one device, and resume it across any other devices the customer may own. Using the UltraViolet service, customers will be able to link accounts to the Nook Cloud to allow viewing of previously and newly purchased UltraViolet-enabled movies and television shows across the Internet to the Nook tablet or app.
Denise Denson, Executive Vice President of Content Distribution and Marketing at Viacom said "the Nook is a dynamic tablet with a beautiful display and we are excited to provide content from Viacom's media networks on this enhanced portable, platform. This is another opportunity for our audiences to enjoy their favorite shows from across MTV, VH1, CMT, Logo, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, TV Land, Spike and BET wherever they go."
