Matrox Graphics today announced the TripleHead2Go Digital SE external multi-monitor adapter, which expands a computer's single-video output into a triple-monitor setup. The new Graphics eXpansion Module (GXM) connects to a compatible system's DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort video output or Thunderbolt port and lets you add three external DVI monitors, each with maximum resolutions of either 1920x1080 at 50Hz on Windows, or 1360x768 at 60Hz on OS X.

High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) compliance allows the playback of copy-protected content, such as Blu-Ray discs, across all three monitors. Compatible with a wide range of graphic processing units running under OS X or Windows, TripleHead2Go Digital SE allows a multi-monitor platform for the office, trading, digital signage, CAD, ProAV, houses of worship, content-creation, and simulation-training applications. The accompanying Windows software, Matrox PowerDesk desktop management software, lets the user optimize the multi-monitor experience through the customization of where and how applications open up. Bezel Management, one of PowerDesk's other features, compensates for the gap in an image resulting from the bezels of adjacent monitors (these functions are handled automatically under OS X). Multi-GXM support enables two TripleHead2Go Digital SE's to be connected to one system under Windows. Users can then operate up to six external monitors at once and create video wall setups or multi-screen presentations. The new Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital SE is available in November at the retail price of $279 for purchase from authorized Matrox resellers worldwide. The device can be purchased in North America and Europe, directly from Matrox.
