Microsoft has filed suit against Motorola Mobility in Germany, alleging that Motorola's Google Maps app violates a patent Microsoft holds regarding the overlaying of map data. The suit names both Motorola Mobility and its German subsidiary, and it hearings in the regional court of Munich will start on Thursday
according to ITworld. The suit is the latest turn in an ongoing patent struggle between the two companies, one that has seen Microsoft suffer some
setbacks as well as a few
victories.
According to the suit, some Motorola products with Google Maps infringe on a Microsoft-held
patent describing a method of obtaining a map from one database, location data from another database, and overlaying the latter over the former.
