FreedomPop, maker of 4G WiMAX cases for iOS devices, is expanding into the home broadband Internet market, the company announced today. The firm that calls itself "America's new free Internet company" announced the pre-order availability of its new Hub Burst, a home modem providing free high-speed Internet for homes and small offices at speeds faster than typical DSL. FreedomPop, which has plans ranging from free to $29 per month, is currently accepting applicants to a beta program for the new service.

The Hub Burst modem and router allows up to 10 Internet devices to connect to it. FreedomPop customers will have a minimum of 500MB per month free, with extra data available at $0.02 per MB. The company also has an $18 Casual plan with 2GB per month and extra data at $0.01 per MB. The Premiere plan provides 4GB for $29, with extra data available at $0.01 per MB. FreedomPop's devices will work on Clearwire's WiMax network, and customers will not be tied to any contracts or installation fees. Currently, Clearwire's WiMax network is only available in select regions, with some major metropolitan areas covered, including Los Angeles, Denver, Las Vegas, Kansas City, Dallas, Atlanta, Nashville, New York, the District of Columbia, and more.
