After launching the Nexus 4 in late October, Google has finally made the companion wireless charging orb for the device available on the Play store. Although users have been able to take advantage of the Nexus 4 wireless charging capabilities using third-party solutions, the official companion device has been almost as sought after as the Nexus 4 itself. Since its launch, the Nexus 4 has often been listed as out of stock on Play stores around the globe with it only recently becoming more readily available on January 29.

At present, the charging orb is only available through to US and Canadian customers for $60 with no news on when it might show on International stores, if at all. US customers who order it now, can expect to receive it within the next week. Google says that the device weighs 130 grams and will charge a Nexus 4 in around 4 hours using the Qi standard. It is sold with a power adapter and a micro-USB cable. The Nexus 4 has proven hugely popular, particularly for a device that is sold in either 8GB or 16GB variants, with its low . Some current estimates place its sales at 1 million units, which could have been far greater had Google and LG manufactured enough devices to meet its demand. As with all Google Nexus-branded devices, it ships with a non-modified version of the Android operating system making it popular with Android enthusiasts and developers alike. The device is based on the much more expensive LG Optimus G, which does not have the same storage constraints and also ships with 4G LTE capabilities.
