Apple was recently attacked by the same group of hackers that went after Facebook, the company has admitted to Reuters. It claims, however, that only a small number of its workers' Macs were accessed, and that "there was no evidence that any data left Apple." A software tool is slated to be released later today to counteract the malware used in the attacks.
The hacker group is believed to originate in China. It's uncertain if the attacks are connected to Unit 61398, a section of the People's Liberation Army that the New York Times has blamed for many high-profile hacking attempts against American businesses, government agencies, and other organizations. It's suspected that the Chinese government may be trying to steal US technology to aid its own economy, while also probing for military and infrastructure weaknesses. US hackers, though, are suspected of perpetrating similar acts against China.

Is immune to attacks and/or malware/viruses. No one. Apple should not advertise or imply that their systems are free of such things.

This exploit was via a Java browser plug-in, which Apple has been not installing, uninstalling and deactivating for most of the last year.
This doesn't affect iOS (no Java or Flash), but I'd bet it has a lot of promise for Android.

It seems like the Korean ethos championed by Samsung of stealing what you need has spread to China or maybe it is the other way. How long will it take China to learn how to innovate and create something of their own? When will they realize that their lack of morality will stifle their economic growth or for that matter, when will the west realize that economic wealth is tied directly to trust, honesty, industriousness, respect, integrity, unity, equality, etcetera.

They should never have in the first place. The arrogance has a lasting effect on the public, gullible and un-informed.

is pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others. I saw it coming long before reaching the comments.
Can you imagine devoting so much energy to capitalizing (at least in your own perceptions) upon the disappointments of others? Not sure what the benefit is, but...carry on!

It turns out the hack was probably Eastern European in origin.
