Acer is preparing to release an eight-inch Windows 8 tablet in the near future, according to a leak. A page listing the Acer W3-810 tablet on Amazon appeared far earlier than planned, revealing images of the mobile device as well as its internal specifications, shortly after the company presented a number of new notebooks
and a 7.9-inch Android tablet
to the media.
The since-removed listing
found by The Verge
showed the tablet as having an 8.1-inch display running at 1280x800, powered by a dual-core 1.8GHz Intel Atom processor with 2GB of RAM. Storage is pegged at 32GB, rear and front cameras are rated at 2-megapixel, and it also has a micro USB 2.0 port and micro-HDMI port. Battery life is said to be around 8 hours, and weighs in at 1.1 pounds. Amazon listed the price of the W3-810 at $380, though this may still change.
Microsoft updated the specification requirements
for Windows 8 tablets in March, allowing for smaller 7- and 8-inch tablets to be created, along with a reduction in the minimum usable resolution from 1366x768 to 1024x768.
