A report claims that Amazon is creating a number of devices, including two smartphones
and an audio-only device said to be designed for streaming. Though there are little in the way of details for the gadgets, one of the two phones is said to use a screen capable of showing 3D images without the need to wear special glasses.
The smartphone will also have retina-tracking technology, according to sources of the Wall Street Journal
, and will allow images to "float above the screen like a hologram and appear three-dimensional at all angles." It is claimed that the devices are part of a broader strategy into hardware, with the previously-rumored set-top box
also set to join the current range of devices, which includes ebook readers and tablets. The new projects are allegedly known internally as Project A, B, C, and D, with the group being called the "Alphabet Projects."
