Google I/O keynote today, the company has announced the upcoming update to the Google TV software, bringing Android 4.2.2 "Jelly Bean" to the device family. Google claims that changes to the core of the software for the device will speed future updates, making the process happen in "weeks rather than months."
The new revision updates Chrome, with scheduled updates of the core every six weeks. The latest version provides hardware driven content protection, easing concerns of some content owners. Additionally, Flash support will be excised from the pending update.
Existing Google TV devices will see the updates in the coming months. New hardware with the updated OS will be released before the end of the year.
