Sony has teased its upcoming game console, via a video uploaded to YouTube. The clip, which alternates between close-up shots and one zooming into what could be presumed to be the impending PlayStation 4, is released the day before Microsoft is due to reveal its future plans for its own replacement for the Xbox 360.
The zoom-in shot of the video appears to show a black square, something that visually matches the outline of a PlayStation 3 if stood on end. The quick close-up images reveal little else about the hardware, except that it is predominantly black or dark gray in color, has air vents, a hard-edged design aesthetic, and the number four recessed into one side.
A previous event saw Sony describe the console as using an Internet connection to stream games before they are downloaded to the system, an eight-core x86-64 CPU, 8GB of GDDR5 RAM, Radeon graphics, a 6x Blu-ray drive, USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet, and a mandatory PlayStation 4 Eye camera. While the physical console itself was not shown, the Dualshock 4 controller was, complete with a two-point capacitive touchpad, three-axis gyroscope, speaker, and dedicated sharing button.
Sony is expected to provide more details at its E3 keynote on June 10th.
