Kickstarted provider of network attached storage devices Connected Data
and similar manufacturing and design company Drobo
today announced they have entered into a merger agreement. Terms of the deal were not announced, and the pair have 30 days to finalize the merger.
The companies have a common lineage. The current founder and CEO of Connected Data was the original founder of Drobo. The Connected Data team consists of the same engineers responsible for creating the high-performance BlueArc Silicon Server and the Drobo storage array. Connected Data is privately funded and based in Santa Clara, California.
Drobo devices allow users to hot-swap drives, mix and match drives of different capacities, speeds, and types, and perform zero-support drive pack migration. The company has won 53 industry awards for its products.
