Given the recent release of the enhanced Intel Haswell line, Dell has updated much of its consumer-grade computing line with the new processor. Dell today announced revisions to its Alienware and XPS lines, boosting both with the power of the new processor family.

Dell's all-in-one XPS 27 line has seen an update. In addition to the inclusion of a Haswell fourth-generation Intel Core processor, the new model can be updated with a 2GB DDR5 Nvidia GeForce GT750M graphics processor, and a larger storage solution, with up to a 2TB 7200RPM drive with a performance-boosting 256GB mSATA SSD. As before, the XPS 27 starts at $1,600. The updated XPS 27 is now available.

The XPS 12 convertible laptop/tablet sees possibly the most benefit from switching to the new power-sipping processor line. The addition of Haswell boosts performance in the unit by up to 63 percent. The HD 4400 integrated graphics deliver up to 68 percent more graphical performance than the Ivy Bridge processor in the previous generation. Given the same battery, the XPS 12 can now last up to two hours longer than the previous generation. The XPS 12 with Haswell starts at $1,200. No availability date for the XPS 12 has been noted.

Dell's boutique gaming lineup has been bolstered by the Alienware X51, now with Haswell. The X51 features Intel Fourth Generation Core i5 and i7 processors, enthusiast graphics up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670, and a dual hard drive configuration of 256GB SSD and 1TB storage. The updated Alienware starts at $899. The new Alienware X51 will be available by the end of the summer.
