Intel is planning to release a version of Haswell processors for enthusiasts in the second half of 2014, according to details inside a leaked presentation. The enthusiast model, dubbed Haswell-E, will launch with options for six and eight-core processors and up to 20MB of L3 cache, and with continued support for Hyper Threading, will have as many as 16 logical cores.

The slides, picked up by VR-Zone, mentions the 22nm Haswell-E chips will not have an integrated GPU, but it will have support for DDR4 2133MHz memory and have a maximum thermal design power (TDP) of between 130 and 140 Watts.

At the same time as Haswell-E, Intel will be releasing the Wellsburg motherboard chipsets. These will offer support for the aforementioned 2133MHz DDR4 RAM, up to six USB 3.0 ports, up to eight USB 2.0 ports, integrated clock support, and a maximum of ten SATA 6Gbps ports. The new processor socket, LGA 2011-3, takes up the same space and has the same ball pattern pitch as the current LGS 2011, but the updated layout is said to be more efficient according to Intel researchers.
