Nokia has effectively confirmed a large number of leaks
for the Lumia EOS smartphone with a high-resolution 41-megapixel rear camera. A company blog post
states that an event in New York on July 11th will have "41 million reasons" to attend or watch a live stream, matching the number engraved onto a leaked metal camera faceplate
Earlier rumors and photographs have suggested it will be a Windows Phone device, potentially something similar to the Lumia 920
, which is also hinted at in the teaser image by the bright yellow background typically associated with the Lumia range.
The Nokia EOS has been shown in a number of photographs to have a protruding rear hump, in order to accommodate the camera and its optics. Held inside a polycarbonate body, it is believed to use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, use a 4.5-inch 720p OLED screen, have support for wireless charging, use a 2,000mAh battery, and initially launch on AT&T
. More accurate specifications could be revealed shortly before the event itself next month.
