Nothing "a number of contractual issues," Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition developer Beamdog
has pulled both the iOS and Apple App Store version of the remade adventure game. Pending resolution of the legal matters, an upcoming patch for the Macintosh and iOS version won't be published, the Android version won't see release, and the planned enhanced edition of Baldur's Gate II
has been scuttled, at least temporarily.
Users who have already purchased the game won't lose access to the game. Beamdog claims that "if you have already purchased Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
from Beamdog or the Apple App Store, you can still download and play your game." Historically, titles removed from purchase from the App Stores become unavailable for download, so it is unclear if the title can be downloaded again from Apple, and if so, for how long.
Regarding the Baldur's Gate II
impending announcement, an entry in the company FAQ notes that "We have been developing Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition
for some time now, but until all issues with our publishing partner are resolved we cannot officially announce or offer this game for sale. This has resulted in significant amounts of wailing and gnashing of teeth amongst the development team."
