Chat support for Asus may have provided information about the expected update
to the Google Nexus 7
tablet. Screenshots shared on Google+ appears to show an employee at the electronics manufacturer stating some unconfirmed specifications for the Asus K009, something which is believed to be the upgraded version of Google's popular Android slate.
spotted by NDTV Gadgets
lists the tablet as having a 7-inch 1080p display, powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor or Snapdragon APQ8064 chip, with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. A 5-megapixel rear camera joins the 1.2MP front version, and it is also said to run on Android 4.3, and house a 4,000mAh battery. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and LTE-support are also mentioned.
While it is plausible that the live chat support transcripts could be faked, due to the difficulty in verifying its authenticity, some of the details match those revealed in a recent FCC filing
, including the rear camera, LTE, and the APQ8064 processor, though this is far from conclusive proof. The images also suggest a Q2 launch for the tablet, which suggests something will be revealed in the near future.
