Flipboard did not lose users' Google Reader data, the company now says. The Flipboard apps
, available for iOS and Android platforms, aggregate news feeds into a magazine-style format. Google Reader content was a supported option, and Flipboard promised to convert feeds before yesterday's Reader shutdown. Users were confused earlier today, however, when Reader content initially appeared to have gone missing during the transition.
"We have all the feeds; nothing is lost," a Flipboard spokesperson explains
. "People can access their folders and feeds. At the moment, only the summary feed called 'All Feeds' is not working for everyone."
The root issue is said to be having to update millions of Google Reader folders. The repopulation process is taking time, and so some app users will simply have to wait. Feeds should be fully restored by the end of the day, Flipboard says, although company founder Mike McCue adds that the process is "definitely taking longer than we thought."
