T-Mobile has commenced pre-orders
for the Sony Xperia Z
, just one day before the the smartphone is launched on the carrier. The water-resistant, LTE-enabled smartphone will be appearing in stores on July 17th
, with customers able to buy the handset under the recently-announced Jump
program, which allows for earlier upgrades in exchange for a monthly fee.
The Sony Xperia Z, with a 4.97-inch 1080p display, uses a quad-core Snapdragon S4 pro running at 1.5GHz, supported by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The two-megapixel front-facing camera is paired with a 13-megapixel Exmor RS camera sensor on the back, which can take HDR photos and 1080p video. Powered by a 2,330mAh battery that is said to last for between 11 and 14 hours on a single charge, it can connect to the T-Mobile LTE network, as well as provide alternative connectivity over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC.
Customers pre-ordering the Xperia Z in black or the limited-edition purple finish will also receive a free Sony Wireless Bluetooth Speaker with the device. T-Mobile is charging $100 up-front followed by 24 monthly payments of $20, or $580 as one single payment.
