Following the launch of the Chromecast, Google is reportedly going to continue its assault on the living room. Reports state that it will be supporting the Chromecast dongle to Google TV devices in the future, while others claim it is working on another set-top box with a built-in video camera and motion sensor.

Google employee Warren Rehman advised on Google+ that Google TV "isn't dead" and would be providing support for Chromecast, though it isn't clear if that would entail plugging a Chromecast into a Google TV device, or for Chromecast's content sharing functionality to be added to existing systems. He goes on to state that the company is working with HDTV and set-top box manufacturers to launch new Google TV devices, and that there is "ample room for both products to exist and succeed."

The Wall Street Journal reports that the search giant has already shown off a potential device to individuals at CES in January. The device was a more usual set-top box rather than the small dongle appearance of the Chromecast, and used the camera and motion sensor for the Hangouts video conferencing service, something identified as its core feature. It is not known if such a device will make its way to market, nor if it would be made by Google itself or by a hardware partner.
