Hyetis has revealed a new Swiss-made smartwatch that the company will be opening up to pre-orders in the future. The Hyetis Crossbow boasts a 41-megapixel camera with a ring flash located on the top edge, contained in a titanium case with a sapphire crystal-fronted touchscreen, yet retains an automatic wound movement to keep time once the batteries run out.

Able to connect to Android, iOS, and Windows Phone 8 devices, the Crossbow includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC connection options, according to Android Police. The timepiece will also be able to track its GPS position, ambient temperature, altitude, depth, and biometric information, though the company advises that this could change in final production models.

While it is a limited release complete with a price of $1,200, it is not clear if there will be much of a market for the Crossbow, considering the existing Pebble smartwatch and Sony Smartwatch 2, and potential future smartwatches from Apple as well as the Samsung Gear.

I might consider it if it actually had a crossbow. That's just blatant false advertising.

I find the 40+ MP sensor in this thing and that Nokia phone kind of offensive, since I know for a fact that the glass in several-hundred-dollar DSLR lenses is rarely capable of resolving even enough detail to fully take advantage of a 16MP APSC sensor. There's absolutely no way that a quarter-inch lens is doing anything useful with even a fraction of those 40 megapixels, so it's just pure marketing hype and file size bloat for no useful gain at all.
