In yet another modification
to information promulgated at its debut
, the Xbox One is now launching in fewer countries in November. The list of countries has been pruned to 13 countries, down eight from the previous 21. Cut from the November launch are Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Still launching on time are Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, United Kingdom, the US, and New Zealand. The company claims that there are "many factors" to the delay, including some localization, language recognition, and content partnerships factoring into the delay.
Consumers who have preordered the console in the affected countries be awarded a "pack-in" game when the device ships some time in 2014, assuming the preorder is kept. Of the delay, Microsoft claims that "we understand this will be disappointing news for our fans in the impacted countries, and we are doing everything we can to bring Xbox One to you as soon as possible next year."
