Sony is close to launching a camera which will work with lenses from other camera mount systems, but still retains autofocus. The A7000, in the same product family as the recently-announced A3000, works as normal with E-mount lenses, but will apparently use a "Z-shift sensor" to help with focusing for indirectly-compatible lens assemblies.

The Z-shift sensor will be able to move up to 18mm, according to Sony Alpha Rumors, with the shift allowing for a closer-to-ideal sensor placement for each lens. While the camera will use the E-mount, requiring the use of adapters to attach non-E-mount lenses, the moving sensor could help attract photographers with existing lens collections, rather than forcing them to invest further.

Specifications for the A7000 have yet to be revealed, though more could come to light after the expected launch of Sony's lens camera systems later this week.
