Electronic Arts has named a new CEO following the departure of John Riccitiello
. EA veteran Andrew Wilson has been selected to serve as the company's chief, following his stint as the Executive Vice President overseeing EA Sports and the company's online portal for digital games and services, Origin.
In a brief statement following his appointment, Wilson said that the company needs to focus on continued transformation for EA's digital future, game delivery and service execution across platforms, and "instilling a culture of execution that will drive profitable growth."
Citing "accountability for the shortcomings in our financial results this year," game publisher Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello stepped down, vacating the position for Wilson. Former CEO and current chairman of the board, Larry Probst, assumed the position while the board hunted for a new candidate.
