Low-cost carrier Republic Wireless has revealed it will be selling the Motorola Moto X on its network for $299. While this is more than the $200 usually charged by carriers for the smartphone, with Sprint offering it for just $100, the Republic Wireless model differs as it is offering it without requiring customers to sign up for a two-year contract.

The $299 price tag for the Moto X is also far below the unsubsidized version of the device, costing around $600, though Phone Scoop reports that Republic hasn't yet revealed when it will be selling the phone. Republic also say that the Moto X will play nicely with the VoIP aspects of its service, something which it relies on for its cheap tariffs.

At the same time, Republic announced it will be revising its service plans in November. One plan, allowing unlimited talk and text over Wi-Fi will cost $5 per month, but without cellular access. A second plan, at $10 per month, provides unlimited talk and text over Sprint's network, but not data. A third adds unlimited 3D cellular access for $25 per month, while a fourth providing unlimited talk, text, and data over 4G will cost $40 per month.
