Core Brands has announced the immediate online availability of the Korus portable wireless speaker system for high-fidelity audio playback from iPhones, iPads, and computers. Two models are available: the V400 for smaller areas, and the V600 for larger areas. Up to four speakers can be combined into one system, with the ability to separate speakers to use independently at any time.

Listeners -- using a USB, Apple 30-pi, or Lightning Korus Baton wireless audio transmitter, the latter of which is expected to ship next month -- can instantly connect mobile devices or computers to Korus speakers through plug-n-play. To switch songs streaming from one source device to another, users just 'Pass the Baton' from one device to another, and easily share music by unplugging the Baton from a device and plugging into a different device and start a new song instantly without changing settings. The Baton uses the SKAA streaming protocol, giving the speaker set nearly twice the effective range over Bluetooth streaming.

Up to four speakers can be paired, with volume either individually controllable or the units can be set to the same volume with a "master control" on the iOS Korus app. The V600 can play drawing power from six D-cell batteries for what the company says is up to 90 hours of playback.

The V400 retails for $299, with the V600 selling for $399. Korus Batons are available at KorusSound.com for $50 each, or get all three Batons for $50 when purchasing the V400 and V600 with an all-in-one starter bundle (which also includes two USB Charge Cables) at retail stores. Korus offers a USB Charge Cable for $20 which allows users to charge mobile devices via the Baton while listening to music. Android compatibility is coming in 2014.
