Consumer electronics designer, E Fun, has announced its upcoming debut of its first quad-core Nextbook Android tablets at CES 2014. The Nextbook 8 and Nextbok 10 tablets will feature Android Jelly Bean 4.2, Google Play access, and new narrow frame bezels. Both tablets include 1 GB DDR3 system memory, dual webcams (2 megapixel back-facing, 0.3 megapixel front-facing) with a microphone, an HDMI-out port with video output of 1080p HD, b/g/n 802.11 Wi-Fi compatibility and more.

The Nextbook 8 has a 7.85-inch 1024x768 high-definition capacitive touch screen and 8GB storage, and the Nextbook 10 has a 10.1-inch 1024x600 resolution and 16GB storage capacity. The Nextbook 8 is set to be priced at $130, and the Nextbook 10 $150. The Nextbook 7 will also be available in the first quarter of 2014 for $100. The new Nextbooks will be on display at CES 2014 in South Hall MP25055, January 7 to 10.

New Bluetooth Smart-connected kitchen thermometers connect to iOS devices

Peripheral maker iDevices has announced its release of the iDevices Kitchen Thermometer ($80) and Kitchen Thermometermini ($40), precise cooking thermometers that can allow the user to monitor their food from up to 150 feet away. Using free iDevices Connected apps for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, users can receive an alert for when cooking food is ready based on pre-determined settings.

The Kitchen Thermometer features an illuminated display and dual-probe for multiple dishes, whereas the Kitchen Thermometermini is a compact, one-probe thermometer. Its magnetic mounting allows for convenient display mounting, and its Bluetooth capacity accommodates a 150-foot range. The Kitchen Thermometer has a 200-hour battery life, running on two AA batteries, while a coin-cell battery powers the Kitchen Thermometermini. The company will be showcasing its latest cooking devices during CES, in Upper South Hall, Booth 35866.

Yeah, but these thermometers are not really for cooking "food"; rather, they are for cooking "meat" or birds, yes?
