Motorola has made two changes to Moto Maker in an attempt to attract students to the Moto X
smartphone. The online designer has been updated to include preconfigured customizations based on a number of colleges
, complete with a case showing the college emblem, while students will be able to pick up a Moto X from the company at a discount.
The "College Collection" in Moto Maker features color combinations for 43 colleges and universities in the United States, with the Motorola blog noting
three new accents and nine back colors have been added to the existing Moto Maker range in the process. The customized Moto X in college colors is priced at $399 unlocked or $49 with a two-year commitment, though students with a valid .edu e-mail address can buy an off-contract device for $399.
