BlackBerry announced last Friday that it has reached an agreement to sell the majority of its real estate in Canada
, as part of its plan to balance finances. The company originally announced its plan to sell assets back in January
, in partnership with commercial real estate service company CBRE. Several months ago, BlackBerry sold five of its buildings to the University of Waterloo for $36.44 million dollars -- much of the real estate that has been sold most recently is also located in Waterloo, Ontario, where BlackBerry's headquarters resides. BlackBerry plans to lease back a portion of the space being sold.
LG announces 10W LED smart light bulb, syncs with smartphone
LG has announced
its own smart light bulb to rival Philips, known as the Smart Lamp. A 10W LED bulb
that can connect with Android and iOS devices, the Smart Lamp connects through Bluetooth and WiFi, and can flash when one receives a phone call, or (with Android) pulse to the beat of music being played. Currently available in LG's native country, South Korea, it is not yet known whether the $32 bulbs will be available in the US.
