Spotify, a subscription-based music streaming platform, has begun to roll out
a newly updated version of its Android app to accompany the previously-released update for iOS. Featuring an over-all new look, Spotify now sports a darker palette, an improved Browse feature and its Your Music tool. Your Music allows users to save songs and albums to their personal Spotify library instead of requiring playlist creation. All compatible Android users of Spotify are anticipated to have received the app update within the next few weeks.
Square updated, adds offline payment collection for order pick-ups made in advance
Credit card reader and transaction company, Square, has added
a new offline payment collection feature to its services. Now available for all merchants using the Square Reader system, customers can now order ahead and place pick-up orders, which can be facilitated while in an offline mode. Merchants can link to a menu and order pick-up feature on SquareMarket, where users can pay for items and arrange for a pick-up within a specified time frame at a merchant's store or restaurant.
Its new Offline Mode allows sellers to use Square's mobile point of sale without the need for an Internet connection, with payment information logged until a connection is reestablished. Lastly, Square
has added inventory tracking for monitoring stock sold in person or online. Along with these new additions also comes an 8 percent processing fee per order for those arranged as a pick-up, with an introductory rate of 2.75 percent until July 1, 2014.
