Amidst general disdain for the Galaxy S5 design
, and following the second part of Apple versus Samsung's smartphone patent battle
, Samsung Electronics' head of mobile design has resigned. Chang Dong-hoon has stepped down from his post, and will be replaced by the Vice President for Mobile Design, Lee Min-hyouk.
Samsung said in a statement that "the realignment will enable Chang to focus more on his role as head of the Design Strategy Team, the company's corporate design center, which is responsible for long-term design strategy across all of Samsung's businesses, including Mobile Communications."
Chang was instrumental in the design of the Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, and the Galaxy Note 2. The Galaxy S5 back case was generally panned by reviewers as appearing too much like a band-aid, and not being dynamic enough.
