New photos obtained by French site Nowhereelse.fr show early third-party cases claimed to be for a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and a 5.5-inch "iPhone 6S." While the 4.7-inch iPhone has been documented in a number of mockups and case samples, its 5.5-inch counterpart has been largely absent, despite numerous reports about both sizes shipping later this year. The two new cases are consistent with other recent leaks, including details like a relocated power button. Their labels are likely placeholders however, given that Apple usually reserves "S" designations for interim iPhone refreshes instead of major redesigns.

The 4.7-inch iPhone is expected to ship first in Apple's usual September/October window. Reports have pointed to the 5.5-inch phone being delayed, possibly into November or even early 2015. The latter is unlikely though, since Apple has never shipped an iPhone prior to the summer, and would lose a lot of marketing momentum.

It should be remembered that those case makers don't produce stuff based on pre-release information from Apple – 'cause apparantly they don't get any. They probably get their info about expected dimensions from rumor sites like everybody else, then they produce prototypes (or in the case of some company a while ago, whole truckloads of finished cases that ended up in a landfill because those rumors didn't come true) based on those alleged dimensions, thus giving more false credibility to those rumors.

It's a vicious circle, really.
