The Samsung Galaxy S5
has gone on sale on Virgin Mobile
and Boost Mobile
, just over a month after the same smartphone went on sale through Sprint
, the network both carriers use for signal. The Samsung flagship is available to buy from both prepaid carriers without any extra monthly charges, but the two companies are charging $599 off-contract for the phone.
While the Galaxy S5 is typically $50 cheaper than the off-contract price offered by other carriers, it still has the same 5.1-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, processor, RAM, camera, and other specifications as the normal versions.
The two carriers have relatively similar price plans that work with the Galaxy S5. Boost offers unlimited calls and texts on all three of its Monthly Unlimited Select plans, with the $40, $50, and $60 scale offering caps of 500MB, 2.5GB, and 5GB of 3G and LTE data before being restricted to a lower speed. Virgin Mobile's Beyond Talk plans have unlimited data and messaging on its three plans, and while the $55 option includes unlimited calls, the $45 provides 1,200 minutes and the $35 offers 300 minutes.
