Huawei is catching up with Samsung
, by producing its first octa-core processor. The Kirin 920 28nm system on chip will use a total of eight cores, consisting of four Cortex-A15 cores, clocked between 1.7GHz and 2.0GHz, and a second set of four Cortex-A7 cores, running between 1.3GHz and 1.6GHz, with the processor said to be more powerful than Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805
the processor will also have a Mali-T628 GPU on board, allowing it to support resolutions as high as 2560x1600. Connectivity includes support for Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and LTE Category 6, which could allow for the mobile device to connect to a cellular network at up to 300Mbps.
The first device to use the Kirin 920 processor could be a device codenamed Mulan
. Benchmark results for the smartphone suggest it to be a flagship model with 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 13-megapixel rear camera with 5.1-megapixel front model, and a 1080p display.
