LG has surprisingly revealed
its round-faced Moto 360-like
smartwatch ahead of next week's IFA trade show. The G Watch R follows on from the original G Watch
launched in July, though instead of a square display of the original, LG has exchanged it for a circular Plastic OLED (P-OLED) screen, measuring 1.3 inches across and with a resolution of 320x320.
Just like the G Watch, the G Watch R houses a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. While it manages to have the same IP67 water resistance rating as the original, it does manage to upgrade the 400mAh battery to a 410mAh version, and also introduces a heart rate monitor. Running Android Wear, it is said to be capable of running all compatible apps in the Google Play Store, along with providing notifications and other updates.
Pricing for the G Watch R has not yet been released by LG, but it will be "available in key markets" early in the fourth quarter.
