Hi all,
I bought an iOmega external Firewire 20 GB drive to print work to and from home. It's nice, and I know that I can use my iPod, but I was afraid that the iPod wouldn't be reliable as an external drive. I don't have any basis for this fear..I just think that when a device is designed to do one thing, that the extraneous things aren't tested as much as they should be.

So...anyone? Has you iPod either worked very well or given you trouble?

Sorry, I don't get it. If you've got an iPod: test it and tell us.

I use my 5GB iPod more as a HD than a MP3 player...works well for me. If anything, it should be "better" than other hds 'cuz iPod is suppose to be able to handle a lot of beating in terms of shaking it around 'n such...

I have a 10 gigger, and routinely use it for files--usually I use around 5 GBs for .mp3s and 5 GBs for files. No problems.
I am stupidest when I try to be funny.

What don't you get? I'd rather get people's opinions and pitfalls before I lose all my data!

If I had an iPod *and* a 20 GB Firewire HD which can hold at least twice as much data as your iPod I wouldn't bother about using the iPod as HD.

Ok, and the second reason is: i'm going to buy a 20 GB iPod and will use it as HD too, so I thought I help keeping this topic alive by posting
