This is a minor grumble, but I got my new 10 GB iPod yesterday installed with 1.2.
The problem is that some smart playlists won't enable with syncing and time.
For example, I have a smart playlist that picks 25 songs from random by year. I also have them erase a song I have already played by enabling "don't list if played in the last week."
Upon syncing the iPod, I figured out that, although the iPod counts the songs, it does not date the playing of the songs, so the playlist stays the same and does not grab new music to put on the iPod. It also won't show up in a list like "show me the most recently played songs."
This is pretty dissapointing, as I thought Smart Playlists would work in a way that makes sense. When you say that it has "smart playlists" as a feature, shoudln't that include all smart playlists?
Has anyone else had this problem? This seems like an obvious thing that Apple should have taken care of.

I have found that smart play lists have been kind of crudely implemented in 1.2. I am hoping that gets sorted out in 1.3. But it seems that the smart playlists on the iPod are passive. They only update playcount for example, after you have plugged it into your mac. A bit odd

Jeez, no, there is no iPod forum yet, my siq is my form of protest for the lack of one. The poll which was started stopped being a poll after they upgraded the forums. One of the Admins said he/she wasn't going to make an iPod forum hence the sig.

Yeah, I post to ipodlounge, but the thing is that there are two websites out there that are completely dedicated to the iPod and both have forums to boot. MacNN is much busier that other forums I have been to and I think the forum could benefit from an iPod forum. Plus I think some of the other topics under peripherals get pushed down because of all the iPod threads. Hey, iv'e been here for awhile, and I like MacNN's forums, lots of feedback lots of users therefore lots of help, and iPod forum would do well I think.

I've read elsewhere you need to firmly press the jack in the remote till theres a click for it to work.

It makes me remember when I put in airport in my ibook, and got absolutely no range for a while before reading on a forum that you had to firmly connect the airport antenna cable.

That sure fixed my problem!

you have to push it in so it clicks twice. I thought mine was screwed up until I found this out. Now it works lie a charm. It's great on the subway.
