Wow! A inexpensive multi-channel solution for Audio in OS X.

Hmm... there are beta drivers coming for the SB Live in OS X... but it looks like the team working on them are still quite a ways away from anything that we can use. But they are trying!

In the mean time one could get an Audiophile 2496, or the Yamaha Cavitt. The Cavitt would be my choice.

Anyways, I just read about this M-Audio Soinca thing in my dev-depot email thingy... it looks slick. Real slick! Multichannel support! Wow! Don't know if it is an audio accelerator, probably not though... so the sound is stil being driven by your CPU, but with a nice fast G4 that shouldn't matter chiznuts. The point is it is about 130 or so CDN!!! I can afford that, and speakers too... I have been putting off getting 5.1 or 4.1 for this Tower of Power™ for some time... cus there wasn't a really affordable multichannel solution (got a big fat HD instead, actually)

Does anyone know if it has 2 analog audio jacks, so one could it hook it up to the Altec Lansing 641 speakers? (they are 4.1 speakers btw) If not, are there any cheap optical to analog converters or something?
