ok this may be a stupid question since everyone here is an avid mac user as I am but I only have enough $$ for one MP3 player. I want on that can store my entire music collection and I'm looking at the ipod of course and the Nomad Jukebox3.
Has anyone used the nomad with a mac. the two are comprabale i.e. firewire, storage size
what I'm impressed with in the Nomad is it's recording ability which would be useful and the fact that you get twice as much space for the same price as an ipod. I also like the better sound output the nomad has.
As for the ipod it looks cooler, it's smaller which is important since I'll be carrying it strictly in my pocket and I'm assuming that it interfaces better with my mac.

What are other considerations, thoughts and experiences before I fork over quite a bit of $$

The iPod is one tight little package. It's incredible size, size/capacity ratio, awesome software, seamless iTunes integration, and it's overall "cool factor" make the iPod the best on the market. The Nomads are big, heavy clunkers that don't fit very well in pockets. The great thing about the iPod is that it's so small and light, you don't mind taking it everywhere you go, so you get more use out of it.
Oh, and it's made by Apple, too

I had an earlier Nomad before going to an iPod. The user interface was terrible -- it was difficult managing large amounts of music. Its build quality also left quite a bit to be desired.

The iPod is in a different class - sort of like comparing a BMW and a Kia...
