While most people have had good success syncing their visors, etc. with palm desktop 4.0, no official update from handspring has been issued yet. This is a reply I received today asking them about it.

"Thank you for sending your comments and concerns to Handspring. Although
Palm, Inc. released Palm Desktop 4.0 for Macintosh, which synchronizes under
Macintosh OS X, this software, while it includes a unified USB driver, has
not yet passed the tests for use with Handspring products. Therefore,
Handspring does not support it. When the Handspring-compatible version of
Palm Desktop 4.0 for Macintosh is ready, we will make it available on our
web site.

Unfortunately, at this time we do not have a specific release date for this
software."

What is wrong with Handspring? They used to be better at supporting the mac than Palm. Now their Treo 300 is not compatable with the mac. And why do they not support the palm desktop syncing if it works?

Don't believe what they say. Just get the MissingSync software addon.

My Treo90 works just fine in OS X and I bet the Treo300 would too.

What ever happened to voting with your wallet? If they don't support us, we shouldn't buy their sh!t. I'm serious. Handspring pissed me off royally when I emailed them about future support plans for the Treo90 and I got a reply saying they had NO plans to make it OS X compatible. I took that mo'fo back the same day. Sure I could have bought the missing sync software, but I didn't. That's the same reason I won't buy a sony pda. Crappy mac support. Forget it. Wait until a vendor gets serious about the Mac platform then send them our money. Handspring sucks.

This is all really weird because Handspring was all about being pro-Apple when they started. Having Mac software and a USB cable in the box was a major selling point when the Visor line was first introduced. Back then, Palm charged customers like $30 for the Mac kit that included the software and a Mac serial cable. Tsk tsk Handspring...

You won't catch me buying any Palm or Handspring hardware ever again. My sentiments are that Palm and Handspring are very confused right now in this market, whereas Sony (regarding the Clie) has a great deal of breathing room.

If you're not careful, you're going to get a friendly reminder from the mods about piracy. You need to tread lightly around these issues...

I didn't know it was pirated software. I'm a PC user who wishes he had a mac.
