Go with the Olympus D-520. It has a 3X Optical plus 2.5 Digital Zoom. The Nikon only has a 3 X digial zoom. I purchased the Olympus camera after reading a couple of reviews (all positive). For the money I thought the Olympus had the features I was looking for, and its compact size is a positive. So far I like the camera. The pictures look awesome.

Nonsense! The Nikon has a 3x optical zoom. Digital zoom is pointless and should not be considered. (You can "zoom" in like that in Photoshop if you really need to.)
How about this: the Nikon includes Lithium-Ion rechargeable batteries, but that's all it can use. The Olympus uses standard AA batteries (=less life than LiIon), which are readily available, and you can buy rechargeables and the charger separately.

That’s the single thing I don't like about the Nikon Coolpix 2500, proprietary Lithium-Ion rechargeable batteries. With the Olympus I just have to buy a cheap AA battery charger.
But my question is: witch one takes better pictures??

ahhhh! The Coolpix 2500 doesn't have an Optical view finder, it only haves a LCD screen... I don't like that. :o

Oh, I hate those LCD viewfinders. Have you looked through one? Very distorted image.
That is a real good source. I recently bought my first digital camera (Minolta S404). It helped alot.
