The 1.10B drivers for this excellent D-Link NIC do not work under 10.2. Does anyone know about a new update? I keep emailing back and forth with the tech support people there, and they all seem like idiots. They keep sending me emails like:

"According your problem described to us, here is our recommend solution:
I am supplying a link where you can download the MAc drivers
http://support.dlink.com/products/vi...tid=DFE-530TX+"

However, this is the link to the old drivers, which I told them DO NOT WORK.

They then sent me an email telling me the full installation process on WINDOWS!

They seem useless to me, but I need my card to continue functioning so I can continue to seperate my LAN at home from my DSL line

Well, here's the reply that they sent me:

"According your problem described to us, here is our recommend solution:

Mac OS 10.2 is new ans has on'y been out for a few weeks. As of now, the card isn't compatable with 10.2 and up. you need 10.1.x and below for this card to work. "

D-Link is a great company... hopefully they'll get to work right away.

Interesting, since 10.2 actually hasn't been officially released yet. I can hardly see jumping down D-Link's throat for not suporting what isn't even in general release. Of course, few would realize it from this forum!

Anyway, as you might know, the D-Link card uses a chipset made by RealTek. In the past, I've had success with Realtek drivers and the D-Link card- expecially when D-Link didn't offer it's own drivers for Mac. For a long time, the Realtek drivers were the only game in town for this card on the Mac. You might try finding the latest RealTek driver and give it a shot in 10.2.

One thing- the Vendor ID has to match the Realtek driver or it won't recognize it. Check in the system profiler- the correct series of numbers is listed with the Realtek driver. (10ec/8139)

If you know how to use a Hex editor and can find the instructions, you can actually edit the driver to match the card's vendor ID and force it to work regardless. I've done this before and wrestled a D-Link card into working with my Macs and a previous release of Realtek drivers (under OS 9- never used it with OSX as the cards I've used were in older machines).

Not sure if these are the latest/greatest Realtek drivers, but this is what I was able to find for OSX here.

As the OS was released to me as an upgrade CD, yes, I can expect them to keep up to date drivers.

In fact, thanks to your post, I found up to date Realtek drivers that worked perfectly at the following address:

ftp://152.104.125.40/lancard/drivers/8139/rtsmacx-8139(111).zip

These drivers worked on the first time.

D-Link just has to incorporate them into their product pages.

Cool! Glad it worked out for you!

And thanks for the link to the drivers that work. As it turns out, I've had to point a few people I know to them.
