Does anyone out there own a refurbished LaCie monitor?
I was thinking of getting a refurbished LaCie ElectronBlue III 19" monitor.
I know the monitor will be great, but is this a good idea (going refurbished that is) ?
I know my warranty will be short, but am I going to be getting something defective?

LaCie CRT monitors are Mitsubishi Diamond Pro models, just blue. I happen to think Mitsubishi makes great monitors, and so a refurb would probably be fine.
However, you may be able to get a new Mitsubishi for the same price as the refurb LaCie. (You pay a stiff premium for that blue color.)

Thanks for the advice. I really don't want a big, oddly shaped, beige monitor on my desk (regular Mitsubishi Diamond Monitor).
I can get a refurb'd LaCie ElectronBlueIII 19" for $289 with free shipping. I think that's what I'm going to do.

The ONLY difference is the color of the plastic. The shape and dimensions are absolutely identical. (If you took a Mitsubishi and spray-painted it that dark blue, you'd see that they're identical twins.)

I bought a refurbished LaCie 21" for $399 including free shipping. It's a monster, but very nice. One thing you get with the LaCie that you don't get with the Mitsubishi is the hood. It looks bizarre, but it works very well. Make sure you get it with your refurbished monitor as not all of the refurbs include it.
When they sent my monitor, they forgot the hood. I called them up and they apologized profusely and fedexed it overnight. That kind of service alone might make it more worthwhile than a Mitsubishi. Plus the LaCie matches the color of my Logitech optical mouse.
