I recently got a Superdrive which I put in a Firewire case to use with my powerbook 667 DVI. Problem is that Toast doesn't see it.

Any ideas?

What OS are you running? I have a Superdrive (Pioneer DVR-104) in a firewire case and it works fine in OS X, but I can't get it to be recognized in 9. I don't really use 9, though, so I haven't worked very hard to solve the problem.

Is it a "real" Pioneer, or is a SuperDrive ripped from an Apple machine? The reason I ask is that some people say that the Apple drive has custom firmware.

If true, that may or may not have any implications here, but I have heard a report that one PC doesn't like the Apple SuperDrive, but recognizes other drives fine.

Any truth to this?

It is a real SuperDrive pulled from an original PowerMac 733 (non quicksilver).

So is this an issue of 10.2 support (ie did it work with earlier versions of OS X)? I have heard that upgrading to 10.2 can break Toast for some people.
