I'm wondering whether it's possible to use a DV camcorder as a webcam. I just downloaded the latest Yahoo chat client and I'd like to try out the webcam feature. I already own a Canon ZR30 DV camcorder and don't really feel like spending money on a webcam. If it's just not possible, any good suggestions on a OS X compatible webcam?

I've done it before with my Sony TRV-30. just turn the camera on, plug it in via firewire, and launch your webcam program. It should be an available video source, listed as Firewire DV or something similar.

Download EvoCam - it will work fine with your camera

Your Canon will work fine, just remove the tape. I have already tested my Canon ZR20 with the new Yahoo! client and it worked fine.
