I mailed Griffin Tech about a year ago asking if they could support the system volume that my keyboard volume controls use. They told me it wasn't possible because 10.1 didn't support this but that they were tol Apple would be adding this to a later version of the OS.
I've just contacted them to ask if this would now be possible with Jag and the mailed me back telling me they're hoping to add that ability in the next couple of weeks.
