hey, I am just wondering about buying a bluetooth kit to play with.

I was thinking of a GPRS Nokia 6310 and 2 usb-bluetooth adapters for in my g3 tower and powerbookg4.

I was hoping for some nice features, but maybe there aren't. a few questions from a starter:
Can i use bluetooth instead of airport?
How far can you put bluetoothed equipment from eachother?

Not sure about the phone set-up you want to use, but I've read some early reports that say using a cell phone as a wireless modem is a bit of a challenge. Check out this walk-thru and it may be of help.

Bluetooth is not a replacement for airport. It's designed to be more of a replacement for wires connecting peripherals like printers, palms, etc. That doesn't mean there aren't or won't be ways to network two machines together using bluetooth, but no methods immediately come to mind.

Bluetooth seems to work best within 10 feet or so. It's definitely designed for "in the same room" connections.

Bluetooth is not networking, it is a peripheral technology (as clearly listed in the main forum page).

Moved to Peripherals.
