ive missed my newton so much since i sold it last summer, that im getting another. a 2100. theyre much cheaper now, too... so i guess i saved some money, but whatever. i still my newton. plus the good old ATA drivers are coming along well, and hopefully i can find that wavelan driver around, so my new newton will have some extra functionality. im rather excited, so i suppose i am ranting, so i'll stop.

oh yea now i remember why i posted... i've lost all my newton software.

i know some of the "standard" software sites, like unna.org, but there was much software that was never on these archives... but were in mine, and other hotline servers and such. anyhow. anyone know of any newton hotline servers, or want to share their personal collection?

Welcome back sine!!! I don't know if I have all the software you want, but you're more than welcome to anything I have. I'll try to make a list of it soon and then let me know how you want me to post it for you.

I just got a message pad 100. there is not much stuff on ebay for it, as far as I know I can't expand to much on it but its my inrto to the newton. Did I make the wrong move? should I have gotten the newer ones ie. 2000 or 2100?
At least at the Asylum, they treat me with respect.

You know I literally picked up and started using my Newton last week. Tried the Palm for 2-3 yrs and the IBM CrossPad (sucked,BTW) but I need a large format to take notes and the HWR is amazingly still excellent.

Anyway, I'm on a crusade through my software archives to find Newton software I had. So far, I've found a CD that I got when I upgraded my MessagePad. It's called 'MessagePad Upgrade CD' and it's from Apple. It has Newton Press 1.1. on it and some other stuff. Plus, I found the floppies for NCU (how am I going to use these?). I KNOW I have MUCH more but it's going to take time to find. It's my goal this holiday.

TimmyDee51 and Sine, if you're interested in exchanging some SW send me a private message and we'll exchange e-mail addresses. I'd be happy to set-up a FTP to trade/exchange stuff if you want.

the mp100 was kind of a lemon. you know "eat up martha"?, thats a 100. the 130s are decent, as useful as a palm, the 2100s are much more powerful than any other, theyre more in pocketpc territory. though im sure many would disagree.

now with the prices of the 2100s, (less than what i remember the 100s being at a year ago,) get a 2100 if you want something useful.

just as a not, i won my aution at $56, so im plenty happy. tho shipping will cost me as i am in canada. anyhow. it should be another week or two till i get it. whee!

Does anybody have Newton Works?

Also, is it a Desktop application or just a Newton app? Or both?I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Thanks I got it. I'm having trouble importing Notes to my MessagePad and was thinking it was the format of the file. I thought if Newton Works was a desktop app it would be more compatible.

Now I'm thinking it may be because I'm using a Keyspan serial adapter to connect to a USB-only Mac and I'm not getting a solid connection.

NewtonWorks imports .rtf files. I don't know if there's any way to import things into Notes itself. The best thing to use to save the RTF files is Apple/ClarisWorks. That's the file type that NewtonWorks files transfer to the Mac as.

Thanks. I tried the latest version of Appleworks and that didn't work.

I'm thinking it's my connection through the Keyspan/USB port. I'm going to try getting a Mac with a real Serial port.

I responded to your e-mail.
