I've had my 5GB iPod since Apple Expo here in London, and use it daily.
I "top off" the iPods charge nightly using Apples mains adaptor. I noticed that after I installed the 1.2 update, even though I'd fully charge the iPod (frequently through the nite), when I started to use it I'd read only three bars - not four - after as little as five minutes playing time.
The first couple of times it happened I put it off to an error on my part, but later I was certain. I raised a query with Apple since I'd thought I'd get a couple of years out of the battery, but on a lark rebooted it.
Now it works fine - a full nights charge gives me four bars for a couple hours playing time, at least.
Just wanted to pass this on.
Take care
