HI I am looking for a USB Gamepad to play a few games that I recently got (RTCW, Undying, Wipeout). Something basic like the PS1/2 ones would be fine for me. What concerns me is compatibility... best one will work without 3rd party software (like USB overdrive or Gamepad Commpanion) as I don't want to pay extra. Also hopefully will work with the games I have. I have a Tibook 800 DVI running on 10.2. TIA!

Pretty much all USB gamepads use the same interface, so they will either all work with your game, or none will, depending on weather or not the game include support. I have a MacAlly iShock and I love it. Its just like a PS style one, only no vibrators. It does have the nipples though. And I use it with gamepad companion and it works great! And they are really cheap too, much cheaper than real sony controllers.

Ditto on the iShock. It is a very good controller for the price.
