Is this possible? I know the iPod uses Firewire to transfer songs, but is there an adapter available that would let you charge it via USB when away from your Firewire Mac? I know you can charge some mobile phones in this way.

Why wouldn't you use the wall plug that came with the iPod? I know Dr. Bott's makes a number of adaptors for the iPod, but I don't think any FW to USB adaptors exist.

I don't know... just wondering if it was possible. Would just be nice and easy to plug into your laptop that's all - smaller cable to carry around etc.

I certianly don't no of one. What you might consider doing, if it is infact for a laptop, get a firewire PC card. I think Apple plays one for $80.
